Can Your Business be a Team Sponsor?

We would love to have your support for our swim team through your business sponsorship.  Email swimteam@newsherwoodpool.com for more information.

Kick Off Party

We will Kick Off our season with a swim team only POOL PARTY and potluck dinner on Sunday, May 17th from 4pm to 7pm.  Carolina Swim Shop will be on site for team suit trial sizing and orders.

Swimsuit Resale

Team Suits and Swim Suit Resale

We will use the same team suit as last year (Dolfin Chloroban Color Block in red/black).  Carolina Swim Shop (5551 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27409) will be our team suit supplier and manage our online team webstore.  We will host several trial suit fittings at the pool in mid/late April and orders can be made on our webstore from April 26-May 17th.

Every year, we also try to offer resale suits for discounted prices. If your swimmer has outgrown an old suit, please consider donating it to us for use in our “Gently Used” Swimsuit Resale which will take place on May 17th at our Kickoff Party.  All proceeds will go to the swim team.  To arrange drop off or pick up of your gently used suits, please contact Colleen swimteam@newsherwoodpool.com.

Swim team is truly a TEAM EFFORT and we will be seeking volunteer support all season.  Here are the many ways you will be able to help:

We need 12 timers for away meets and 13 timers for home meets.  Timers keep and record time for each swim.  An online sign up will be distributed at the start of season for you to sign up.

Meet Officials

Trained volunteers will serve as stroke judges, referees and starters for our meets.  To volunteer in this capacity, you will need to attend one of the Stroke/Turn clinics.  For clinic dates or meet official questions, please email Matt Clifford cliffomw@wfu.edu

Data Entry

Each team must provide 2 volunteers at each meet to enter times into Meet Manager (computer program) during the swim meet.  If you are interested, the League is offering an optional May training session.  Please email Matt Clifford cliffomw@wfu.edu

Stingray Zone

For parents of swimmers who are 10 and under, we require that you volunteer for at least 2 meets in the Stingray Zone.  The Stingray Zone is a corralling area for 10 and under swimmers (with games and fun).  These volunteers will keep an eye on their designated age group swimmers during our meets, assist gathering them for their upcoming events and escorting them to the Clerk of Course.

Clerk of Course

Benches will be set up for 10&U swimmers in the tented area.  Upcoming heats of swimmers will assemble here, escorted to the Clerk of Course by their Stingray Zone volunteers.  Volunteers here will need to ensure swimmers are properly placed for heat/lane assignments and will escort them to their start areas on deck.

Concesssions sales support the operating costs of swim team.  We have three home meets this season and will need LOTS of help to plan and man our concession sales. We are looking for a new head of concessions. Please email swimteam@newsherwoodpool.com if you are interested in helping to organize concessions.

This is a great opportunity for parents who cannot volunteer their time during a meet.  a group of volunteers will be needed to assist set up and/or clean up for the Kickoff and End of Season Awards parties as well as our Pep Rally Potluck dinners prior to our three home meets.

After every meet, ribbon labels are printed and need to be placed on ribbons.  Spirit volunteers will also be needed to hand out Stingray Bucks to heat winners at home meets and to bring/pass out Krispy Kreme doughnuts during Fun Friday morning practices.
